Configuration control of industrial displays

Configuration control refers to the display being compatible in terms of appearance, applicability, functionality, etc. for a certain period of time. This basically allows display manufacturers to flexibly change sub components to keep up with technological or market needs. It also allows users to transition to updated display products with minimal design changes. Product changes are inevitable, and the question is, based on time and resources, how quickly and how much impact product changes have on users. When implementing configuration control, managing changes to reduce impact is very useful.
The design of industrial grade displays allows for changes, while manufacturers strive to keep changes to a minimum. When product changes have to be made, they not only have a sound and recognized Engineering/Product Change Notification (ECN/PCN) plan, but information is promptly sent to customers to allow them to adapt to the changes without seriously affecting their business operations.
Usually, the manufacturer issues a PCN three months before the implementation of the change. These changes will then be filed, and at appropriate times, customers can obtain samples of the new product for testing before receiving it. In consumer displays, there is almost no demand for configuration control, and it will not be accepted by the service market. Most consumer monitors are basically sold for a short period of time, and there is no prior notice of any changes.
