Brightness of industrial displays

Due to the fact that most flat panel displays are used in indoor environments, with a brightness of approximately 250-300cd/m2 (nits), LCD screens with a diagonal size of 15 inches are the most commonly used. However, this brightness level of display cannot meet the requirements in industrial environments because the ambient lighting is stronger, and its brightness can easily exceed the brightness of the LCD backlight.

Moreover, touch screens are often used in industrial environments, which can reduce the brightness of the display and make it appear darker. In typical medical, industrial, and public telephone booths, the required brightness must reach at least 450 cd/m2. In the past, passive display technology, including LCD, has a very poor response time compared to active light-emitting display technology.

In consumer displays, whether it is laptop or desktop, a response time of less than 30ms is sufficient. However, in industrial, medical, and gaming fields, users can feel the movement in dynamic content environments, which requires LCDs to have faster response times. Among relatively new technologies, such as AVS (Advanced Super View) or MVA (Multivariate VertICal Alignment), the response time has been reduced to less than 10ms. In TVs using ASV technology, this indicator can reach 6ms.
